Lame Genie, the mightiest video game music rock band in all of Providence, Rhode Island, is back at it again. In their compulsive drive to release at least two albums a year, they’ve set their sights on the arcade/SNES classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time.

Turtles in Time improved on the original TMNT arcade game with deeper gameplay, settings that soared all across time and space, and a soundtrack that pushed beyond the bounds of the iconic main theme, while still returning to it enough to be satisfying.

Lame Genie’s take on the soundtrack features huge guitars, propulsive drums, and tight ensemble work. Fans of the game will appreciate some cheeky details and in-jokes, but you don’t have to know the game to appreciate an album full of kick-ass instrumental metal.
